Curriculum Statement

AT EGI, we use the Cambridge International Early Years and Primary curricula.

At its heart, our curriculum is student-centered, creative, robust, rigorous, balanced and purposeful.

Teaching and learning will develop:

  • A sense of joyful discovery
  • Respect for ourselves and for others
  • Individual character
  • Emotional awareness and intelligence
  • Magical connections with environments, nature and other humans
  • Trust in ourselves and others
  • Social awareness
  • Confidence
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Wellbeing for all of our community
  • Respect for rules and boundaries

Each child is different and unique and every child matters. The wellbeing of each child is important to us and we aim to support social and emotional, as well as intellectual, creative and development. We “check in” with each child every day.

Students, teachers, staff and parents each bring their own experiences to EGI from their personal cultures and histories. All who work within our school environment contribute through their diversity. This includes teaching styles, leadership styles, learning styles and differing opinions. We understand what learning in a new language might be like for students and we aim to develop trust through the use of a common language (English).

Curriculum

Our Creche, Cambridge Early Years and Primary Curriculum.

Children begin to take some responsibility for their own care (e.g. getting dressed, hand washing) and for controlling their own thinking, learning and emotions (self-regulation). They interact positively with others and have positive attitudes to people's similarities and differences.

Children ask questions to find out more about the world around them. They try different strategies to overcome challenges and solve problems.

Children apply speaking and listening skills to express, clarify and develop their own ideas and to respond constructively to others' ideas. They identify when they need help in order to progress their learning.

Children are curious about the world around them, and keen to observe and explore to find out more. They develop their own and others' knowledge, understanding and skills through social interaction and collaboration.

Children reflect on their own and others' activities, saying what they liked and did not like, and what went well and not so well. They begin to understand how reflection and feedback can help to develop new ideas. Our curriculum is flexible, challenging and inspiring, culturally sensitive yet international in approach. Cambridge students develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.
